When you hear “meditation,” you may think of the phrase “clear your mind.”  Ummm…yeah right. Between school, homework, and your social life, that probably seems like an impossible task.

Practicing meditation is much easier than you think. Plus, it’s especially useful when you’re stressed. Here’s how to do it in three easy steps:

  • Choose a place. It’s easiest to meditate somewhere quiet, with few distractions.
  • Sit up straight. Sit on the floor or in a chair. Good posture allows your breath to flow smoothly.
  • Breathe and focus. For 15 minutes, breathe deeply and focus on your breath. Every time a thought enters your mind, acknowledge it without judging it, and then let it go. Return your attention to your breath.

It’s that simple. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to meditate. The easiest way to practice meditation is to pay attention to your breath and relax. Meditation can reduce stress, boost your mood, and improve your overall health. Try adding it into your day and see how much better you feel.
