The best thing I’ve learned in Student Health 101 so far is…
The best thing I’ve learned was from the social anxiety article: to be mindful of exactly where my mind goes. I very often find my mind plagued with insecure thoughts about what others think of me as well as the possibilities of things going wrong and embarrassing myself, no matter how many times I tell myself and others remind me. The mindfulness tip goes a long way. After months of practice (it took quite a while), I now find it a lot easier to catch myself when I’m having those pessimistic thoughts.
Fun facts about me
- I have trouble listing/finding fun facts about myself! I honestly don’t know what to say.
- Would you like to know about my Coca-Cola addiction? I can’t go a month without drinking some.
- I take a lot of inspiration from fiction shows. I watched a basketball show once. It inspired me to play basketball—for a week. Even though they don’t last very long, I act on those impulses anyway. I’ve gained a wealth of experience in doing so.
How I give back to my community
Personally, I give back to my community by buying and contributing to local corner stores around my neighborhood. I like knowing that the money I’m giving won’t be used in some big company enterprise; it will stay in my neighborhood and contribute to community projects. Also, in my school community, I’ve helped with the canned food drives over the years.
